ACP vs stainless steel vs acrylic — which lasts outdoors?
Stainless steel lasts longest outdoors, then powder-coated aluminium, then cast acrylic. ACP is the economical choice for large flat boards.

There are three main types: front-lit letters, back-lit letters and lit boards. Back-lit metal letters generally last longest, because the LEDs sit behind solid metal and nothing on the face can fade.

An LED board is one flat panel that carries the name. LED letters are separate letters, each lit on its own and fixed to the wall or to a backing panel. Letters read from further away; a board is the economical way to light a wide name.
Front-lit letters glow across the whole face and are the brightest, which suits a shop front on a busy road. Back-lit letters stay solid and throw a halo on the wall behind them; they need a plain wall to work.
Sometimes. Back-lighting can be added to metal letters if they can be stood off the wall. A flat board usually has to be rebuilt.
